The action of “The Lonesome West” takes place in Connemara, in the west of Ireland. We follow two brothers, Valen and Coleman, who live in their father’s house after his recent death. They consider it impossible to co-exist without constant arguments on the simplest topics. Their coexistence is a continuous series of conflicts. But Father Welsh, a young local priest, is ready to try to reconcile the brothers before their petty quarrels turn into a bloody slaughter of ideologies.
“The Lonely West” is a complex, gloomy and incredibly moving work in which biblical myths, modern realities of life, reflections, family issues, faith, exploration of life and death, humor and loneliness are magically intertwined.
By Martin McDonagh, author of “In Bruges”, “The Banshees of Inisherin”, “Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.” The world-renowned playwright supports Ukraine by granting the right to stage his play for free during martial law and to perform it for 90 days after its termination/cancellation.
From the first winner of the first festival in memory of the founder of the theater Eduard Mytnytskyi “Mytnytsia. New direction” — Oleksandr Sokolov.
