About the Festival:
The festival “Mytnytsia. New Directing” was founded in 2022 by the Left Bank Theatre with the aim of discovering, supporting, and developing directors in the field of theatre art. It is a continuation of the Eduard Mytnytskyi Memorial Festival “Space of the Master” (held at the Left Bank Theatre in 2021 and initiated by Stas Zhyrkov and Tamara Trunova). The winner of the first “Mytnytsia” was Oleksandr Sokolov, with a production of Martin McDonagh’s “The Lonesome West” — the premiere took place in the 2023–2024 theatre season. The winner of the second “Mytnytsia” was Rob Feldman, with Nina Zakhozhenko’s play “Cops vs. Snails” — the premiere took place in the 2024–2025 season. The winner of the third “Mytnytsia” was Slava Yushkov, with an excerpt based on Luigi Pirandello’s short story “The Fool” — the premiere of the production “Durko” is scheduled for autumn 2025.
